Operating Theaters (OT)

In the OT at the Thoraxcenter heart, lung, aorta and transplant surgery is carried out in both adults and children. Congenital defects can increasingly often be corrected, in particular in neonates and infants. The results are constantly improving. Furthermore there is a steady growth and increasing complexity in corrective surgery for congenital defects of the heart and thoracic vessels in adolescents and adults.

An international team works in the OT consisting of operating assistants, anesthesia assistants and perfusionists. At present the Thoraxcenter has four operating theaters and three preparation theaters.

Because the building of the Thoraxcenter is being renovated in 2006 the Operating Theaters will be completely renewed.
